Black and white is too much contrast for most people
The contrast is certainly too much for her as well. She is an autumn like me. Most people lose some of the depth and intensity of their coloring, so did my mum. So due to her age she can even wear less contrast than I can. And I did tell her that I think the combo is too harsh. I even helped her combine new beautiful outfits with what she has in her cupboard. Still she loves the combination and keeps on buying and combining black and white. I guess it is because it is just such an easy thing to do. You always have black and white things in your wardrobe… So if my mum loves her black and white, well, why not pass her my black and white clothes?)
I already wore beige and medium brown in a contrasting outfit. Today I went a little further and increased the contrast with dark & medium brown and off white. I believe it does look ok, but I would not go any further on contrast.
Contrasting outfit for an autumn
The amount of contrast you can wear does not depend (only) depend on which seasonal color you are in. It rather depends on how much contrast you have in your natural coloring: if you look at your skin, hair color, eye color and eyebrows: how much contrast do you have?
This is the 221st article that I write for the 365 day challenge. That includes no shopping for an entire year. No shoes, clothes nor handbags. I blog about my outfits here, hoping to inspire some other pear shaped women out there. Occassionally, I add a picture or more that I did not publish here on tumblr.
